THE PROJECT

VEGLIAMONTE

The Vegliamonte project was born in November 2015 when Marco and Tiziana Parusso bought the Cascina Baconotta in Località Santa Rosalia, Alba.

An opportunity for our family to start a new project of wine-making development of the territory of Alba, paying homage to the city towards which we feel gratitude.

This happens by producing a wine that bears the name of the city. There is a wine-making denomination, of which we speak very little, which is called ALBA DOC. It is a young denomination, created to enhance an area between the Langhe and Roero, equally fertile and promising.

The philosophy that guides our work with the ALBA DOC is based on quality and foresight; our desire is to rediscover ancient tradition, to combine them with innovative techniques so as to obtain a complete product, rich in information.

THE NAME

The search for the name Vegliamonte followed two main guidelines

First of all the environmental characteristics were taken into consideration, its privileged position, with a majestic view over the Barolo and the surrounding territory.

Vegliamonte also enjoys a particular view of the changing peaks of the surrounding Alps, which seem even closer than they really are. They are imposing and "giants": is it a Fata Morgana effect or an exclusive perception that Vegliamonte possesses?

The second exploration concerns symbolic themes born from the family's vision of the Vegliamonte project as if it were a theater premiere.

WHERE

SANTA ROSALIA

Vegliamonte is born in 2016 in Località Santa Rosalia, in Alba.

The property consists of a typical Langhe farmhouse with stable and 14 hectares of property: 8 hectares are planted with vines, 2 hectares are planted with hazelnuts and the rest are woods. The village of Santa Rosalia is part of the historic medieval hamlet of Alba.

WHO

FOUR GENERATIONs

Marco and Tiziana Parusso think of the project as a “trait d’union” between their generation and the one of their sons, which will carry on the work of four generations.
The project involves young people in both production and management, bringing a breath of fresh air to the company.

HOW

TRADITION AND INNOVATION

Key points are experimentation and innovation, well anchored to our traditions and origins.

“Dawn has its own mysterious grandeur which is composed of a residue of dreams and a principle of thought”

VICTOR HUGO

ALBA DOC

The wine must have at least 70% of Nebbiolo and at least 15% of Barbera. This cut was traditionally done to compensate the characteristics of Nebbiolo with those of Barbera, known as “taglio all’albese”.

THE BOTTLE

THE GRAPE AND THE ROOTS
The point of light can be interpreted both as a berry, the heart of the project and the heart of our activity, as well as our roots.

ALBA
The spotlight is turned to this young denomination and we play on the bivalent meaning of the word ALBA. It is the dawn of a new denomination.
